After several ups and downs, multiple release delays, and after many years of being in development, the live-action film based on the DC comics’ popular character ‘The Flash’ is all set to be released in theatres on 16th June 2023.
But before its wide theatrical release, the highly anticipated DC superhero movie ‘The Flash’ will be screened for at the ComicCon 2023 event, which is slated to happen from 24th to 27th April. It will be the first time ‘The Flash’ full movie is going to be screened for an audience. Although the screening is yet to be officially confirmed by the stakeholders.
But considering the myriad controversies related to the film’s lead actor Ezra Miller, is the full movie screening of ‘The Flash’ before almost two months of its theatrical release at ComicCon a double-edged sword and a risky move by the makers? Well, any film’s screening before its official theatrical release is potentially a double-edged sword and rather risky. But in this case, we have a hunch that it isn’t.
In fact, on the contrary, screening ‘The Flash’ full film in the presence of prominent movie theatre owners and managers amply displays the kind of confidence that the makers have in their project. And in case you remember, even the upright and usually blunt James Gunn has stated that ‘The Flash’ is one of the best superhero movies ever made.
And the film’s trailer too had garnered a phenomenal response from movie lovers across the globe. Moreover, the test screenings for ‘The Flash’ have also fetched a positive response from viewers. So, it looks like fans of the superhero genre are in for a treat this time.
‘The Flash’ has been directed by Andy Muschietti, who has previously helmed the ‘It’ horror films. The movie’s underlying plot revolves around how Ezra Miller’s titular character The Flash travels back in time to save his mother from getting murdered, albeit with unanticipated repercussions.
Ezra Miller has reprised his superhero role as ‘The Flash’ from the earlier films ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Justice League’. Alongside Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash, the film will also feature Michael Keaton’s Batman, Ben Affleck in his Bruce Wayne / Batman version, Michael Shannon as General Zod, and Sasha Calle as Supergirl, amongst others.
