The film industry has one slot left for the mythological movies, but nowadays that slot is overflowing drawing inspiration from “Ramayana and Mahabharata” and creating epic mythological fictions are filling the box office.
But the growing question is are audiences reaching a saturation point with mythological movies ?
With growing epics hitting the big screen the market which once wanted to see some mythological stories is coming to a point where it is soon going to be saturated.
This trend was once started by the iconic film “Baahubali”, which reinvigorated the genre by delivering a fresh, high-quality cinematic experience. Later on many producers and directors tried to mould something out from the same formula and we got movies like “Adipurush”.
Coming to “Kanguva” national award winning actor Suriya’s most anticipated releases, this movie got mixed reviews, and though the buzz around it is undeniable, some wonder if its impact will be lasting or if it will be swept under the rug of countless similar releases.
Although some audiences are bombarding the theatres with thrills but critics, criticised it for its repetitiveness.
Although “Kanguva” delivered its epic fight and grand visuals, is it enough to leave a long lasting mark?
As these kinda epic mythological films keep on saturating the market there is a high risk of viewer fatigue . At this time where audiences demand novelty, it’s time for Indian cinema to reassess and evolve, offering stories that resonate beyond their grand visuals.
