When we say live sports, what do we mean?
It’s simple. We mean LIVE Sports.
Now, a few seconds of lag is very much understandable due to technical reasons and nobody really complains about it. And in 2025 we have all the technology in the world that can facilitate live streaming of the sports. But that doesn’t happen sadly.
However, the problems are a little extreme on JioHotstar. You see, ads are necessary for the income of the platform and it is well understood that there will be ads. Otherwise, the whole streaming would be difficult. But unlike satellite channels which show short ads, JioHotstar is running long ads.
And his problem has become so extreme that JioHotstar runs almost two balls behind the actual match. This situation used to be very common during the Disney+Hotstar monopoly days when free piracy apps would stream matches.
So that is why it is important to ask whether JioHotstar is even live or if is it showing only and only recordings.
However, at this point, lags are sort of disappointing. JioHotstar must work on its ad policy and make it more user-friendly than ad-friendly.
Anyway, the overall streaming quality (other than ads) is not inviting a lot of complaints so good job over there.
