‘Tanaav‘, the Indian adaptation of the Israeli show ‘Fauda’ is now streaming on SonyLiv and it is getting mixed reactions. The show touches the very sensitive issue of Kashmir once again and some people are not happy about the show.
Fauda is about the Israel-Palestine conflict and Tanaav shows the India-Pakistan conflict regarding Kashmir. It is supposedly hurting people’s sentiments because Kashmir is an integral part of India and it is completely different from the issue in Israel.
Sudhir Mishra has said that with the show he does not look for controversy, nor does he shy away from it. Fauda is about two countries and also about two religions, that are Jew and Muslim. But Tanaav does not have the angle of religion here. It is a story of a nation against terrorism or some kind of extremist ideology.
Tanaav is the remake of the Netflix original in just an Indian setting, and that is also enraging to the audiences. The viewers are fed up with remakes and adaptations from Hollywood, Tamil, Telugu movies and now Israel.
There rises a very legitimate question, why should one watch the remake when the original is available there on Netflix. It is not that the makers have made huge changes to it.
But the controversy about the Kashmir issue needs to be reconsidered. Tanaav is not a show on religion, it also does not disagree that Kashmir is an integral part of India. The show needs to be watched without such prejudices. Tanaav is at least a well made remake, at least cinematically.
Watched Tanaav last night. A very naive portrayal of Kashmir. All the research was in surface level. Poor character development. You don’t even feel any connection. Arbaaz and Rajat Kapoor wasted. Only Manav Vij was relatable. Very disappointed on Sudhir Mishra#Tanaav #sonyliv

#Tanaav is Exact copy of #Fauda , a Israel web series.
Dear #SonyLIV, Do not make people fool any more .#Palestine and #Kashmir are two different issues. #Kashmir is integral part of India while Palestine and Israel are based on two nation theory. pic.twitter.com/BNCJ6G0oAh
