Bollywood action star Vidyut Jammwal has just announced that his forthcoming film ‘Sanak’ has opted for a direct-to-OTT release on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform. The post was accompanied by a stunning poster featuring the actor in action mode inside burning hospital premises.
The exciting update was concurrently corroborated by the OTT giant in a post which was marked with the words “For love, he will go to any extent. Get ready to witness a thrilling journey. #Sanak coming soon on @DisneyPlusHS.”
Directed by Kanish Varma, ‘Sanak’ is being touted as an action-thriller that will feature some original and path-breaking action sequences. Vidyut Jammwal will be essaying the role of a common man in the film who possesses a background in mixed martial arts. The film’s plot purportedly follows how the protagonist tries to save his wife and other hostages in a hospital setting.
‘Sanak’ would not be the first time Vidyut Jammwal is collaborating with filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Previously, the two have worked together in the ‘Commando’ films and the John Abraham starrer ‘Force’. ‘Sanak’ would also mark Vidyut Jammwal’s second collaboration with OTT giant Disney+ Hotstar after the 2020 film ‘Khuda Haafiz’ that was released on the same platform.
Interestingly, the underlying plot outline of Vidyut Jammwal’s upcoming actioner ‘Sanak’ is somewhat reminiscent of his earlier film ‘Khuda Haafiz’. Because in both these films, the protagonist is apparently shown to be a husband, an ordinary man with extraordinary will/skills, who must rescue his wife who has been held hostage by dangerous black hats. Although the setting for both these films is entirely different.
While ‘Khuda Haafiz’ was set amidst the backdrop of a fictional Middle East country and the flesh trade business. On the other hand, the goings-on of ‘Sanak’ are ostensibly picturized in a hospital setting in a hostage-rescue action-thriller format. Whether or not ‘Sanak’ is old wine in a new bottle can only be known after the film’s release. But since old wine tastes better with age, we are hopeful that it holds true for ‘Sanak’ as well.
Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see how ‘Sanak’ will set itself apart from Disney+ Hotstar’s earlier release ‘Khuda Haafiz’ through its riveting action sequences and unique setting. ‘Sanak’ will soon start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar although the precise release date is yet to be revealed.
