Warner Bros. has withdrawn the copyright strike on the fan film ‘The Hunt For Gollum’. One day after the production house announced a new spin-off of ‘The Lord Of The Rings’, it came into the news that they have striked a fan film that had been streaming on YouTube for the past fifteen years.
The Hunt For Gollum will be starring and directed by Andrew Serkis, who played the role of Gollum in the original movie trilogy. The fan film too is titled ‘The Hunt For Gollum’ and has a similar subject matter. Netizens criticized the corporation for suppressing the voice of independent filmmakers and it seems to have brought some impact on the issue.
Warner Bros. have not only lifted the copyright strike but also apologized for it by saying that it was an error. The netizens are rejoicing in the news and they say that it was not a regular error on the part of the production house and was a premeditated strategy. But the backlash that they faced after the strike made it very evident that there was a high chance that the audience might get angry at the incident and it might affect its business, so they withdrew the strike. Whatever may be the reason, the film is now available to watch on YouTube, and if you are a fan of The Lord Of The Rings, do not miss out watching it.
