Ishaan Khatter-Mrunal Thakur’s “Pippa” Finally Begins Shoot!

War movies are the current trend in Bollywood and it always has been this way. Any war movie comes our way, the Indian audience is absolutely thrilled. We recently got Shershaah and Bhuj: The Pride of India. Even though Shershaah managed to impress fans, Bhuj couldn’t do the same. But, even then war films are the leading trend, and keeping up with this, we will soon have another brilliant addition. “Pippa”, stars Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur in the lead with Priyanshu Painyuli, and Soni Razdan in pivotal roles. Pippa has been long due and finally, the announcement has arrived for the start of the film.

The first look of Pippa has finally dropped and it shows a badass Ishaan Khattar, in a tank, marching forward. The tagline of “Pippa” is equally interesting, as it mentions “1971. A Country Comes Of Age”. With this, we definitely know, the movie is about the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The film is based on the book, “The Burning Chaffees” by Brig. Balram Singh Mehta and Ishaan Khatter play the role of the man himself, “Brig. Balram Singh”.

Pippa is based on the story of Brig. Balram Singh Mehta, who was part of the 45th Cavalry Tank Squadron. The cavalry fought the war in the East Pakistan Zone. The story focuses on how the squadron fought a 48-hour battle in the zone with their tanks, which eventually became a crucial part of India’s win back in 1971, this battle is now etched in our Indian History as the “Battle of Garibpur”. Pippa’s story is written by Ravinder Randhawa, Tanmay Mohan, and Raja Krishna Menon. Menon will also be directing the movie, he was also the man behind the great movie “Airlift”, which starred Akshay Kumar and was an instant hit.

Pippa is being produced by Ronnie Screvwala from RSVP and Siddharth Roy Kapur for Roy Kapur Films. The movie also has music from the grand musical maestro A. R. Rahman himself. The movie was supposed to begin early in 2021, but then it got terribly delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown. The reading session began in mid-August and finally, the filming has also begun for Pippa, with the shoot starting from today in Amritsar. Many war scenes were being planned from August itself, so that there won’t be any more delay and also because the war scenes are the crucial part of the movie.

We have already seen how Raja Krishna Menon has beautifully brought together the goosebump-inducing story of Airlift. Also, the fact that the music will be produced by the musical genius A.R. Rahman himself, we can get an idea that “Pippa” can be the next grand war movie from Bollywood. As for the release, Pippa is currently scheduled for a 2022 release but, everything depends on how the filming process of the movie goes.
