The Star Wars sequel trilogy and most of its characters were a complete mess. However, Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) turned out differently. And by differently, we mean really good. Driver’s take on Kylo Ren was intense and multi-layered. He managed to bring immense depth and nuance to the popular character, enabling him to flawlessly portray a conflicted individual torn between the dark and light sides of the Force. In addition, his intimidating physicality and commanding presence made Kylo Ren a force to be reckoned with in the entire galaxy. However, Driver’s recent comments indicate that his story in the Star Wars franchise is over.
In a recent interview with the SmartLess podcast, Adam Driver revealed that filming for Star Wars was “exhausting”. He believes that working in Star Wars was a truly difficult experience. This is what he said:
“Star Wars was way more exhausting for me,” he said. “I made it more exhausting than it should have been. I hadn’t quite figured out the momentum of a set that was that big before.”
Adam Driver’s recent comments make sense. There is no denying that Star Wars gave him global prominence. But his work in films like Paterson (2016), Logan Lucky (2017), Marriage Story (2019), Annette (2021), White Noise (2022), and more, is the real reason why many believe that he is one of the best actors in recent times. In other words, he does not need Star Wars anymore. He is done with the space opera franchise.
Moreover, Driver’s return to the Star Wars franchise will not make any sense now as Kylo Ren met his demise in Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. On top of that, fans hate the sequel trilogy. Which is why he should maintain a safe distance from the franchise. Stay tuned for more updates.
