Prabhas’ upcoming action thriller movie ‘Salaar’ is definitely one of the most anticipated Indian movies of 2023. The film was previously slated for a theatrical release on 28th September. However, earlier this month, it was officially announced that the film has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
And now, as per the latest update, the makers have officially announced the new theatrical release date for ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’. The big-ticket movie will now be released worldwide in theatres on 22nd December 2023.
And in doing that, ‘Salaar’ will be released alongside another pan-Indian biggie – Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ starring Shah Rukh Khan which is also slated for a theatrical release on 22nd December 2023. As per some film enthusiasts, Salaar and Dunki’s concurrent release might adversely affect each other’s theatrical performance.
Moreover, Shah Rukh Khan recently hinted that the release date of ‘Dunki’ is fixed for 22nd December, so the box-office clash seems inevitable. So, unless the makers of ‘Dunki’ prepone or postpone their release date, the box-office performance of both ‘Dunki’ and ‘Salaar’ should still be very good in their respective core markets. Some film enthusiasts and fans concur with the makers’ decision to release ‘Salaar’ on 22nd December, as it’s a very good date being the Christmas holiday season. What are your thoughts on that?
Coming back to ‘Salaar’, the massively mounted movie has been directed by the man behind the immensely successful ‘K.G.F’ film series – Prashanth Neel. The movie’s plot ostensibly revolves around a gang leader who locks horns with other dangerous gangs in order to fulfill his dying friend’s last wish. Besides Prabhas in the lead role, ‘Salaar’ also features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, and Tinnu Anand, amongst others.
