Acclaimed Indian actress Vidya Balan, earlier today, took to Twitter to officially announce that her next film would be a comedy-drama co-starring ‘Scam 1992’ actor Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy in the lead roles.
She further revealed that the film would be helmed by ad filmmaker Shirsha Guha Thakurta in her feature film directorial debut. The yet-untitled film would mark Vidya Balan’s first collaboration with Applause Entertainment and would reunite her with ‘Tumhari Sulu’ producer Ellipsis Entertainment. She would be essaying a character called Kavya in the film.
The romantic comedy-drama movie, which is being touted as an inhibited take on contemporary relationships, has been set for a 2022 release. The movie is currently being filmed in locations across Mumbai and the scenic hill town Ooty.
Besides Vidya Balan, the film boasts of a talented cast. That includes Pratik Gandhi, who became an overnight sensation after Hansal Mehta’s highly rated web series ‘Scam 1992’ was released on the SonyLIV OTT platform. The actor was last seen in ‘Bhavai’ and Gujarati series ‘Vitthal Teedi’ while his forthcoming acting projects include ‘Six Suspects’, ‘Who Ladki Hai Kahaan’, and ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’, amongst others.
Moreover, the film would also feature Indian origin American actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is known for his roles in sci-fi series ‘Heroes’, ‘Covert Affairs’, and more recently on Netflix comedy-drama show ‘Never Have I Ever’. This is not the first time the Texas-based actor will be acting in an Indian project. Previously, ‘The Family Man’ director duo Raj & DK had cast him in an important role for their film ‘Shor in the City’.
On the other hand, ‘Barfi’ actress Ileana D’Cruz would next be seen in ‘Unfair and Lovely’ co-starring Randeep Hooda and the Ajay Devgn starrer highly anticipated Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’.
