Followers of OTT entertainment will know that most of the Indian films that streaming platforms premiere are OTT releases of films that have already released in theatres. Original films are generally few and far between. Original Films are those that OTT platforms have especially conceived and executed for release on their own platforms.
However, the coming weeks will see the three streaming giants in the country going against the tide. All of a sudden, there’s a deluge of Indian Original Films on the top three OTT platforms – Disney Plus Hotstar, Netflix India and Prime Video India. Yes all three will debut original films in the end of September and beginning of October.
1. First up is social comedy drama ‘Babli Bouncer‘, which will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 23. The film stars Tamannaah Bhatia as a young female wrestler, who takes up a job as a bouncer at a nightclub. The film is written and directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, along with Amit Joshi and Aradhana Debnath as co-writers. and Madhur Bhandarkar.
2. Next up is ‘Plan A Plan B‘, which will premiere on Netflix on September 30. Plan A Plan B is a rom-com that stars Riteish Deshmukh and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. She is a match-maker, he is a divorce lawyer, and when the twain do meet, will it be love for them or disaster?
3. Bringing up the tail is comedy family drama, ‘Maja Ma’, which premieres on Prime Video India on October 6. The film stars Madhuri Dixit as a well-meaning mother, who unwittingly becomes a hurdle in her son’s marriage plans. The film also stars Gajraj Rao, Ritwik Bhowmik, Barkha Singh, Srishti Shrivastava, Rajit Kapur, Sheeba Chaddha, Simone Singh, Malhar Thakar, and Ninad Kamat. Maja Ma is directed by Anand Tiwari.
