The highly acclaimed SonyLIV web series ‘Rocket Boys’ season two was announced a little time ago and the countdown for the same has finally begun. This time it’s going to be a desert ride in Pokhran, Rajasthan and about the period when India demonstrated its power to the world.
Beginning on Saturday, 18 May, 1974, the newly released first look video for ‘Rocket Boys’ season two shows glimpses of wind blowing through the deserts of Pokhran in Rajasthan symbolising the calm before the storm because its soon after that one can hear a loud explosive noise.
What follows next is the then Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi claiming to the world that “India will not be threatened, not anymore. We are prepared to take any action necessary.” And thus after that day India proved to the world that no one dare try to challenge its sovereignty.
Popularly known as “Operation Smiling Buddha”, it was the assigned code name for India’s first successful nuclear bomb test that was detonated on the army base Pokhran Test Range, in Rajasthan, by the Indian Army. India was the first country outside the five permanent members of the UN Security Council to do so.
Helmed by Abhay Pannu, ‘Rocket Boys’ season 2 will tell the story of what went behind into making this risky mission a success and how. The series stars Jim Sarbh, Ishwak Singh, Regina Cassandra, Saba Azad, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Arjun Radhakrishnan.
