Well known Swedish actress and director Helena Bergström will direct the Netflix movie ‘Dancing Queens’ starring her own daughter Molly Nutley. The film will be produced by Bergström’s husband Colin Nutley’s Sweetwater Productions, and is a beautiful drama about being brave enough to face the unknown and accept the love and friendship even beyond the classical boundaries.
As per Netflix, “The story centers around Dylan Pettersson (Molly Nutley), a 23 year old girl from a small island in the Swedish archipelago with big dancing aspirations. When she’s talked into cleaning at the struggling drag club Queens, the club’s star dancer and choreographer (Fredrik Quinones) accidentally discovers Dylan’s talent. She desperately wants to be a part of the show, but she’s a girl – and it’s a drag show. However, where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Dancing Queens will mark tha acting début of Fredrik Quinones who is also the film’s choreographer. Other members of the cast include Marie Göranzon, Claes Malmberg, Christopher Wollter, Rakel Wärmländer, Ann Westin, Max Ulveson, Mattias Nordkvist, Razmus Nyström, André Christenson, Emil Almén, Fredrik Robertsson, Robert Fux, Louie Indrian and Dominika Peczynski.
Denize Karabuda will serve as the scriptwriter for the film alongside Helena Bergström. While Joana Sorobetea at Sweetwater Productions will be the film’s producer, Colin Nutley and Mikael Bergkvist will executive produce it. The film will be set in the beautiful Swedish landscape that makes its USP alongwith the dance and music.
Dancing Queens will be available for streaming globally on Netflix in 2021.
