So all those rumours of Malayalam superstar Nayanthara and Tamil filmmaker Vignesh Shivan having sold streaming rights to their fairytale wedding are indeed true. This morning, Netflix India’s official social media handles announced that the breathtaking pair was coming soon to Netflix. Netflix’s announcement confirmed that the rumours were not rumours, but the undeniable truth.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s love story, culminating in their grand wedding last month, has been chronicled in a documentary that will premiere soon on Netflix India. The documentary has been directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by Rowdy Pictures. Netflix hasn’t disclosed the title of the documentary, nor its release date yet.
Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara got married on June 9 this year, at a lavish resort in Mahabalipuram. Almost instantly, social media was abuzz with the news that the couple had sold the streaming rights for their wedding to a major OTT platform for a hefty sum. Many dismissed the news as mere rumours. Similar rumours have surfaced several times in the recent past – most prominently at the time of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding, and Deepika Padukone’s wedding to Ranveer Singh. Both times, nothing came of the rumours.
However, this time the news is true. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s fairytale wedding will indeed be showcased on Netflix, for the world to see and savour. The cherry on the cake will definitely be a sight of the high profile guests at the wedding – from Suriya, to Rajinikanth, to A R Rehman, to the biggest of them all, King Khan, aka Shah Rukh Khan, himself.
In today’s world of loss of privacy and living under constant media glare, whether streaming one’s wedding for the world to see is the right thing to do is the subject of another writeup altogether. Rest assured that Binged will cover it, sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, stay tuned to Binged.com for further details on the streaming date of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding on Netflix.
