Zee5 has dropped the official teaser of its upcoming suspense filled drama series ‘The Broken News’ and its a fight between showing the truth as it is and adding a punch of sensation to it. Helmed by Vinay Waikul, ‘The Broken News’, set to premiere only on Zee5 this June, is a riveting adaptation of the popular 2018 British series ‘Press’.
The teaser shows how two Indian news channels, have their own ways to break out a news to the viewers. While Dipankar Sanyal (Jaideep Ahlawat) at Josh 24×7 believes in adding that extra sensation to the news in order to attract attention, Amina Qureshi at Awaaz Bharati is all for a more ethical and fact based reporting.
This difference can be seen when Dipankar demands for more videos of Gulnaaz that are there whereas Amina thinks something like that should be restrained. While it’s not clear as to whose right or wrong here, the constant hustle and tension can be sensed easily.
As per Zee5, ‘The Broken News’ follows the story of two Indian news channels with have opposing principles that leads to a fierce rivalry. The dynamic journalists attempt to balance their lives while facing an uncertain future.
‘The Broken News’ on Zee5 stars an ensemble cast of Sonali Bendre, who is making her OTT debut, Jaideep Ahlawat (‘Paatal Lok’), Shriya Pilgaonkar (‘Mirzapur’, ‘Guilty Minds’), Indraneil Sengupta (‘Mulk’), Faisal Rashid (‘Scam 1992’), Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Kiran Kumar and Taaruk Raina (‘Mismatched’) among others.
Vinay Waikul, who recently helmed Netflix’s ’Aranyak’ serves as the director for Zee5’s ’The Broken News’. Zee5 Global and BBC Studios India have partnered for this series adaptation.
The original British version ‘Press’ was created and written by Mike Bartlett (‘Doctor Foster’, ‘King Charles lll’). It was produced by Lookout Point, BBC Studios and Deep Indigo production.
