We all know that helmer James Gunn has already confirmed that the upcoming MCU project, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, will be his last directional feature for Marvel. With Gunn’s plan to end the trilogy on a high note, he also buried a major rumour regarding the plot for a possible GOTG prequel instalment recently. Check out what Gunn said in his tweet about this scenario right here!
A prominent Twitter user, @Moth_Culture, tweeted this: “RUMOR: Disney+ Guardians of The Galaxy prequel series focuses on Gamora’s family-like relationship with Nebula and Thanos.”
However, the GOTG series and The Suicide Squad helmer has shut down the above-mentioned rumour. He said that The Mad Titan tortured Nebula and Gamora in their childhood days. Fans will not witness a “family-like” relationship among these characters.
Fans know that Thanos didn’t treat the sisterly duo the way they should have been treated. Instead, he trained them hard and weaponised them to use their talents for his advantage and future goals. Yes, he showed his love towards Gamora during the events of Infinity War when he chose to sacrifice her life to get his hands on the Soul Stone. But it doesn’t mean that he was a good father figure to her and her sister Nebula.
After turning the Peacemaker series into a smashing hit for HBO Max, Gunn is working on GOTG Vol 3’s post-production work these days. He has already hinted at the deaths of some major characters in the forthcoming MCU entry. A lot of bets are on Rocket’s demise. Plus, we may even witness Nebula’s departure from the franchise for good. Furthermore, Karen Gillan also stated last year that the third part would be emotional.
There is no denying that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be a heart-pumping and sentimental rollercoaster ride for the fans. As for the prequel series, Marvel Studios has not yet revealed anything about the project. So, we should keep our hopes low for this one. The third GOTG instalment will come out in theatres on May 5, 2023. Stay tuned for more updates.
