James Gunn’s forthcoming project namely the ‘Peacemaker’ series starring WWE star turned Hollywood actor John Cena is all set to start streaming on HBO Max from 13th January 2022. ‘The Suicide Squad’ director James Gunn is known to regularly interact with his fans through social media platforms where he replies to myriad fan queries. In a candid chat just a few hours back, the gifted filmmaker has revealed some interesting info on the ‘Peacemaker’ series.
You might already be aware that the ‘Peacemaker’ series is a spin-off from ‘The Suicide Squad’ movie which came out earlier this year. The series would focus on the madcap titular character played by John Cena, who is portrayed as a ruthless killer whose mission is to attain peace at any cost. The series would ostensibly narrate the origins of the superhero/supervillain Peacemaker and his subsequent missions.
While replying to a fan query, an important revelation made by James Gunn was regarding whether one needs to watch the Idris Alba and John Cena starrer ‘The Suicide Squad’ movie before watching the show. Series showrunner James Gunn had replied that there is no need to watch ‘The Suicide Squad’ movie before ‘Peacemaker’ series as there would be a recap of the film at the start of the series.
Another useful info given by James Gunn was that the series would have a three-episode premiere and “Over two hours of pure #Peacemaker” and that the show takes place after the events of the 2021 film ‘The Suicide Squad’. He further stated that every moment in the ‘Peacemaker’ series is a reference to the DC extended universe (DCEU) since the show itself is the DCEU.
As James Gunn’s ‘Peacemaker’ awaits its release, the in-demand filmmaker is busy these days with his upcoming Marvel projects ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special’ movies, which are currently under different stages of production.
