James Gunn’s upcoming directional feature, Superman: Legacy, may lay the foundation for The Authority, according to the latest report from The Hollywood Reporter.
Both Superman: Legacy and The Authority are a part of DCU’s first chapter, Gods and Monsters. Warner Bros is currently looking for their new Man of Steel, along with other characters from Kal-El’s lore, such as Lois Lane and Lex Luthor. Legacy has a release date in 2025. It means that the film must begin its filming process in 2024.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the members of The Authority will be introduced in Superman: Legacy. However, their casting will commence after the studio gets their Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Although, it is not clear if The Authority has a major or small supporting role in the upcoming Superman flick.
It is also possible that only a few members of The Authority may appear in Superman: Legacy. The former faction treasures a lot of superheroes and may overcrowd the forthcoming Superman instalment. This is why, The Authority should briefly appear in the James Gunn directional.
The addition of The Authority will make Superman: Legacy different from previous Superman entries. This scenario will also give viewers a little taste of the group before the release of The Authority’s solo movie. Maybe Clark Kent can help the superhero group create its own unique identity; who knows?
Superman: Legacy is expected to release theatrically on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
