Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx‘s recent Netflix series ‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!’ will not be renewed for a second season. Inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with daughter Corinne Foxx, the sitcom had premiered in April this year.
As per reports, Foxx who starred and executive produced the multi-camera series was himself involved in the decision to cancel season 2 of ‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!’ on Netflix. Foxx initially co-created the series with sitcom veteran Jim Patterson (‘Two and a Half Men’, ‘The Ranch’), who was later replaced by Bentley Kyle Evans (‘The Jamie Foxx Show’, ‘Love That Girl!’).
‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!’ on Netflix follows the story of Brian (Jamie), the owner of a cosmetic company and single father to Sasha (Kyla-Drew). The show highlights how a father tries his best to understand and be there for her teenage daughter, willing to go to extreme lengths at times.
Other than Foxx, Netflix’s ‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!’ cast included Kyla-Drew (‘The Good Doctor’, ‘Jessie’) , David Alan Grier (‘A Soldier’s Play’, ‘Sprinter’), Porscha Coleman (‘The Parkers’) and Heather Hemmens (‘Hellcats’, ‘If Loving You Is Wrong’).
Meanwhile, Foxx and Netflix will continue their creative partnership on their upcoming projects that include two films, namely, ‘They Cloned Tyrone’ and ‘Day Shift’.
Reportedly, Netflix that follows the straight to series formula instead of launching the show with pilots, has faced difficulties with multi-camera sitcoms recently as most of them are not proceeded with after the first season.
