Veteran Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis is riding high after the success of the globally admired multiverse actioner ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ and last year’s box-office hit slasher film ‘Halloween Kills’. In an interesting casting update, the Golden Globe award-winning actress has reportedly (via One Take News) been cast in Disney’s upcoming ‘Haunted Mansion’ reboot / remake movie. She would be essaying a supporting character called Madame Leota, who is the ghost of a psychic.
Based on Disneyland’s dark ride attraction of the same name, the supernatural horror comedy film ‘Haunted Mansion’ is being helmed by Justin Simien (Director – Dear White People). This is the second time a feature film is being made based on Disney’s popular theme park attraction. The first theatrical adaptation was the 2003 movie titled ‘The Haunted Mansion’ which featured Eddie Murphy in the lead role. Although the first film did not receive favorable reviews, it went on to become a box-office hit.
The upcoming reboot ‘Haunted Mansion’ features Rosario Dawson, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, and Danny DeVito and the addition of Jamie Lee Curtis has rounded up the film’s ensemble cast. The film’s plot follows a single mother Gabbie, who relocates to a mysterious mansion along with her 9-year-old son. But later she finds out that the place is haunted and enlists the help of a priest, a psychic, a paranormal expert, and a history professor to exorcise the haunted mansion.
Jamie Lee Curtis has had an illustrious acting career so far with films like John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’, ‘A Fish Called Wanda’, James Cameron’s ‘True Lies’, and ‘Knives Out’, to name a few. So, the presence of an actress of Jamie Lee Curtis’ caliber will certainly lend a unique dimension to Disney’s upcoming ‘Haunted Mansion’ reboot, which is slated to release on 10th March 2023.
