Last week, it was announced that the second season of the Netflix crime drama web series ‘Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega’ will start streaming on the OTT platform from 23rd September onwards. With three weeks away from the eagerly anticipated show’s premiere, the makers have just dropped the ‘Jamtara Season-2’ trailer (attached below).
The trailer starts off with a voiceover about how Jamtara has become the present-day Chambal for dacoits of the modern world. Thereafter, the trailer showcases how scamsters trick gullible persons with the intention of trapping them through various kinds of scams. The new season would focus on a new scam apparently executed by using mobile SIM cards on a large scale. As per the makers, the new season’s story is based on true events.
Created and directed by Soumedra Padhi, ‘Jamtara’ opening season was set in the Jamtara region of the Eastern Indian State of Jharkhand. The place is infamous for purportedly being a hub of internet-related and insurance/financial scams.
The show’s underlying premise is about a group of small-town and ambitious youngsters led by the protagonists Rocky (Anshuman Pushkar) and Sunny (Sparsh Shrivastava) who are the brains behind a profitable social engineering phishing operation.
The story takes an interesting turn when a greedy politician sets his eyes on the profits of their business. Also on their trail is a police officer who is hellbent on fighting the illegal activities. Now, it would be interesting to see where the story goes from here and what these interesting characters do in ‘Jamtara Season-2’.
‘Jamtara’ Season-1 mostly received positive feedback from audiences and critics alike, so expectations would naturally be high for the show’s upcoming season and the stakes will be higher than before. The show currently holds an impressive IMDb user rating of 7.2/10. ‘Jamtara’ also features Amit Sial, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Aksha Pardasany, Aasif Khan, and Monika Panwar in important roles.
