The hotly anticipated Japanese political thriller series ‘House Of The Owl’ finally has a release date on Disney Plus. The series will premiere on Disney Plus worldwide on 24th April, 2024. ‘House Of The Owl’ will premiere on the same day on Disney Plus Hotstar in India, and on Hulu in the US.
House Of The Owl stars veteran actor Min Tanaka (Perfect Days) as powerful fixer Ogami Ryutaro, also known as ‘The Owl’. Sensational young Japanese – American actor Mackenyu stars as his U.S.-educated son, Ogami Ryu. Digital viewers recently saw Mackenyu in Netflix’s live-action series ‘One Piece’.
The story of House Of The Owl follows master fixer The Owl, who is skilled at guiding powerful politicians and business leaders through some of the country’s biggest scandals and triumphs. However, he discovers that fixing his family can be more difficult than fixing a country. His son, U.S. educated Ogami Ryu, harbors idealogical differences with his father, and tries to undo some of his doings.
House Of The Owl is as much a political thriller as it is a family drama, with family dynamics forming the core of the story. Besides Min Tanaka and Mackenyu, House Of The Owl stars Ryu Ohgami, Ryutaro Ohgami, Mieko Harada, Shiori Watanabe, Masanobu Andô, Ogami Ichiro, Manda Hisako, Hasegawa Kyoko, Nakamura Masatoshi, among others, in pivotal roles.
The 10-episode drama has been written by top TV executive David Shin. Shin has worked as Disney’s SVP for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, and previously at Fox Networks. With House Of The Owl, David Shin has returned to his primary love, which is writing. The series is directed by Yoshitaka Mori with Yuya Ishii and Yusaku Matsumoto.
