As promised by Guy Ritchie on social media, the trailer for his upcoming action thriller ‘Wrath of Man’ dropped yesterday on the official YouTube page of MGM. This will be the fourth collaboration between Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie after ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’, ‘Snatch’, and ‘Revolver’. Check out the trailer for this action packed thriller at the end of this article.
‘Wrath of Man’ is essentially the story of a father out for revenge. And Jason Statham has been appearing and nailing a lot of revenge films on the big screen, even if many critics are not a fan of his over-the-top action and stoic bad-assery. And it looks like ‘Wrath of Man’ is likely to be cut from the same cloth. This time though, Guy Ritchie is directing it.
Unlike most directors, Guy Ritchie is known for his epic montages to progress a story and even if this is a revenge plot and most of the story has been mapped out in the trailer, with Ritchie we can and should expect cinematic gold. We didn’t get to see his signature editing style in the trailer however, but we are not worried. Like Christopher Nolan who is known for his “outside-the-box” brilliant film concepts, Ritchie is known for epic gangster action thrillers.
The trailer for this movie begins with Bullet, portrayed by Holt McCallany, introducing H (played by Jason Statham) to the Fortico Securities Protection Squad, as their newest addition. Fortico Securities specialize in picking up and dropping money across Los Angeles. The trailer takes us through two heists, showing us how tough it is to be a security guard working, protecting money that is on the move. During one of the heists, Bullet gets captured by a crew and then they negotiate for the money in the truck for Bullet’s life. H starts the exchange but then starts killing crew members when the opportunity presents itself, saving Bullet and protecting the money. But H’s shooting skills freak out Bullet and another guard, portrayed by Josh Hartnett, with them coming to an understanding that H wants the armoured trucks to get hit. In a flashback, we get to see that H’s son was killed during one of these heist robberies, who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. It turns out, H is a gangster who happened to see his son get murdered and now, he is out for revenge.
This movie will reunite Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham after a 15 year long break from working with each other. Ritchie gave Statham his first big break in the aforementioned ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ and Statham never looked back from there.
‘Wrath of Man’ is coming to theaters on May 7th 2021.
