Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ is easily the most anticipated movie in Indian cinema. The pan-India film will release in theatres on 7th September, 2023, in three prominent Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Jawan has been co-written and directed by Tamil director Atlee, his first time of directing a Hindi film and a Bollywood star. The film also boasts Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi as the primary antagonist, who will face off against Shah Rukh Khan’s titular ‘Jawan’. Tamil music composer Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for Jawan. South actress Nayanthara plays the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan.
Given the strong Tamil connections of Jawan, it is obvious that Tamil viewers are super excited about the film. They can’t wait to watch what magic Atlee has conjured with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan. The director is well known for his blockbuster films with Tamil superstar Vijay.
Though Jawan will release simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu too, the most pressing problem for producers Red Chillies Entertainment and director Atlee was to recreate Shah Rukh Khan’s powerful dialogue delivery solidly in Tamil and Telugu as well. For that, the need of the hour was to get equally powerful voices to dub for Shah Rukh Khan in the Tamil and Telugu versions of Jawan.
And voila! The makers of Jawan have got brilliant actors with equally powerful styles of dialogue delivery of their own, to dub for Shah Rukh Khan in Tamil and Telugu. Kannada superstar Yash has dubbed for Shah Rukh Khan in the Telugu version of Jawan; while Prithviraj Sukumaran has dubbed in Tamil for the Bollywood superstar.
How do we know? Well, eagle-eyed film fans have latched on to the fact that the makers of Jawan have given special thanks to Yash and Prithviraj Sukumaran on the official IMDb page of Jawan. It doesn’t take rocket science to put two and two together, to realise what the special thanks is for.
So there! Our very basic detective work tells us that Yash has dubbed for Shah Rukh Khan in Telugu, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in Tamil. No one can dispute the fact that these two actors have the most powerful delivery of dialogue amongst all South actors, as their recent monster hits KGF film series and Jana Gana Mana have amply shown.
You may ask why Yash and Prithviraj Sukumaran haven’t dubbed for Shah Rukh Khan in their native languages of Kannada and Malayalam instead.
Well, that’s because Jawan is only releasing in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, not in Kannada and Malayalam.
