Malayalam musical drama ‘Meri Awas Suno‘ that released on May 13th theatrically landed on Disney+Hotstar this Friday, 40 days later. The film had a dismal box-office performance due to multiple reasons, one being its divisive genre and the other being the storm that was KGF-2. However it seems like the film has eventually found its target audience on the streaming giant.
The film has been trending on top in the list of Top 10 Malayalam movies by dethroning ‘Twenty One Grams’ in just a day. It is very much evident from the reception of streaming audience that the film was indeed meant for streaming platforms and not theatre-going audience owing to its musical/drama genre.
The film follows the story of a radio jockey Shankar whose life goes ona toss when he is diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. When he learns that the price he has to pay for cure is his voice, he is rendered hopeless. He then meets a speech therapist Dr Reshmi who offers him a ray of hope throughout his treatment process.
‘Meri Awas Suno’ is written and directed by Prajesh Sen who earlier directed ‘Captain’ and ‘Vellam’, both starring Jayasurya in lead role. Prajesh has also donned the hat of a writer in the film. Manju Warrier and Sshivada co-stars Jayasurya in the film. M Jayachandran composed the music of the film that marks the first collaboration between Jayasurya and Manju Warrier.
