After days and days of will they, won’t they, and months of uncertainty, pioneering production house Yashraj Films has taken the bull by the horns and done what no one in the Bollywood film industry was gutsy enough to do. Aditya Chopra, CEO of Yashraj Films, has gone ahead and announced the theatrical release dates of the entire slate of YRF films that will release in 2021. Not only the names of the films, he has also announced definite dates for the releases of the much-awaited films.
Lined up for release this year are the following films from the stables of Yashraj Films:
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar – 19th March
The Arjun Kapoor – Parineeti Chopra starrer is directed by Dibakar Banerjee.
Bunty Aur Babli 2 – 23rd April
The spiritual sequel to Bunty Aur Babli, the film stars Rani Mukherjee, Saif Ali Khan, Sidhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh. It has been directed by Varun V. Sharma
Shamshera – 25 June
The period drama stars Ranbir Kapoor in a double role, with Vaani Kapoor as a dancer and Sanjay Dutt portraying the antagonist. It has been directed by Karan Malhotra
Jayeshbhai Jordaar – 27 August
The social comedy stars Ranveer Singh in the titular lead role, along with Shalini Pandey making her Hindi film debut, and Boman Irani & Ratna Pathak Shah in crucial roles. It is directed by Divyang Thakkar.
And the last –
Prithviraj – 5 November as a Diwali release
It is based on the life of Rajasthani warrior, Prithviraj Chauhan. It features Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj, while Manushi Chhillar makes her Hindi film debut, along with Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij and Lalit Tiwari in crucial roles. The film is directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi
Yashraj Films have stayed committed to their standards of releasing films only in the theatres. They had earlier planned to announce their slate in the interval of one of the buzzy movies. However, since no big Bollywood movie is releasing as of now, they have gone ahead and announced the slate to the media and on their social media handles.
