Disney has now removed the Star Wars spin-off ‘Rogue Squadron’ from its release calendar and added ‘Snow White’ ‘Inside Out 2’ and ‘Mufasa’ release dates at that time. Patty Jenkins was directing the movie and it was going to be the first Star Wars movie since 2019 when ‘The Rise Of The Skywalker’ came out.
Disney has been planning on a few features from the Star Wars series, one with Taika Watiti, director of Thor: Love and Thunder; one with ‘The Last Jedi’ director Ryan Johnson and one with Marvel’s Kevin Feige. But the release date of any of them is not officially announced.
Jenkins was inspired by her father who was in the U.S military and she wanted to make the greatest fighter pilot movie one day. From the glimpses we got from Rogue Squadron we can say it is very much like a love-child of Star-Wars and Top-Gun.
The decision is getting mixed reactions from the fans. A part of the fandom is happy and is satisfied to say that no movies are better than bad movies. Others feel quite offended with the decision, they feel there is a vacuum in the franchise that can be filled by different directors with stories that will deal with not only the main characters.
The next Star Wars movie after the shelling of Rogue Squadron, is set to release on December 19 of 2025.
