Jersey: Shahid Kapoor Starrer Wins Plagiarism Case In Bombay High Court

The fans of Shahid Kapoor can dance happily as the Bombay High Court has ruled the decision of Jersey’s plagiarism case in the favour of the makers. This situation arose due to a writer, Jagla, who believed that the film had been copied from his original script. It means that Gowtam Tinnanuri‘s upcoming sports drama will not face another postponement in its theatrical release.

One of the main producers of Jersey, Aman Gill, recently shared his thoughts about the film’s cast: “We were all geared up to release our film Jersey this holiday weekend, however, we didn’t want to go ahead and plan a release until the courts gave us a favourable order, and with a hearing scheduled for Wednesday, we had no time to plan for the Thursday release hence we decided to postpone the release by a week to April 22, till we got such an order. Today on Wednesday we got a favourable order, which clears the way for our release next week.”

Jersey was all set to release last year in December. However, the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus forced the makers to indefinitely postpone the movie’s release. Again, it faced postponement from its April 14th release date some days ago. Many people believed that the decision was taken to avoid competition from Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast with Nelson at the helm.

Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey is ready to hit the theatres on April 22nd. The leading man will portray the character of a retired domestic cricketer, Arjun Talwar, who looks to revive his career at the age of 36 to buy the Indian cricket team’s jersey for his son. Apart from him, we have Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Kapur, Ronit Kamra, Shishir Sharma, and many more in the film’s cast. Stay tuned for more updates.
