A brand new web-series has been in the works at Sony LIV and has come up in the news quite some time ago. The web-series wasn’t gathering much attention and has been quietly progressing with their cast and also their shoot. Titled “Rocket Boys”, the web-series is being helmed by Nikhil Advani. He is also joined by Siddharth Roy Kapur for the upcoming project.
Rocket Boys tells the stories of India’s genius scientists Homi Jehangir Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai and APJ Abdul Kalam. The web-series will tell their stories as they become the leaders in bringing India forward in the field of science. It was earlier revealed that Paatal Lok star Ishwak Singh has been signed in to play the role of Vikram Sarabhai. The actors assigned for the other two characters had been under wrap for quite some time.
It is now being stated that Jim Sarbh, the versatile actor is already on board for the upcoming web-series for the role Homi Jehangir Bhabha. Also a new actor has been roped in to play the role of APJ Abdul Kalam. Arjun Radhakrishnan, who earlier had featured in small, independent movies, will be debuting into the mainstream cinema through this web-series.
The series is apparently set between 1938 and 1964, which saw the emergence of India’s space program as well as the atomic energy program. These programs were the reason Homi Jehangir Bhabha has been named as the father of Indian Nuclear program. The web-series will also simultaneously tell the story of APJ Abdul Kalam. The web-series is stated as one of the most ambitious upcoming projects at the moment.
This is the first time Emmay Entertainment and Roy Kapur Films have joined hands together. The series is currently being filmed in Maharashtra and it is also revealed that 50% of the shoot has already been completed keeping in mind the Covid regulations. The web-series also has plans for shoot in Cambridge, Mumbai and London which will be carried forward once the Covid eases out and restrictions are lifted.
