Jio Cinema’s September Lineup: Visfot, The Penguin & More

Jio Cinema has unveiled its lineup for the month of September and its a mixed bag of new series and movies, both Indian and foreign. While certain titles are highly anticipated, some still need separate official announcements.

Let’s take up the new movies coming to Jio Cinema this September first. In the Indian section we have two direct-to-digital releases, namely, ‘Visfot’ by Kookie Gulati and ‘Jo Tera Hai Woh Mera Hai’ by Raj Trivedi.

Touted to be a gripping crime thriller and starring Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan, ‘Visfot’ explores that dangerous consequences of deceit and poor choices. The film follows the lives of two families, one living in a Mumbai slum and the other in a luxurious high-rise, whose paths intertwine unexpectedly. A series of events leads to a tragic explosion, leaving one man wrongly accused of a crime he didn’t commit. As he fights to clear his name, he uncovers a web of corruption and deceit that threatens to destroy everything he holds dear.

On the other hand, ‘Jo Tera Hai Woh Mera Hai’ is a slice-of-life comedy film starring Paresh Rawal and Amit Sial in key roles. In the film a lowly tea seller and an ambitious hustler Mitesh Meghani tries to con his way into ousting an old man out of his house and simultaneously win the love of his family. But his reverse mortgage scheme turns futile as the old man is in no mood of dying and Mitesh has tried every trick in the book. Mitesh is then left with no choice but double down in madness and look for the things that really matter to him.

Among the foreign movies coming to Jio Cinema we have only one title ‘The Fall Guy’ but it’s one of the biggest releases of the year globally not in terms of box office collection but surely in respect to the highly positive reviews the film received.

Let’s get to the new series landing on Jio Cinema in September. Amongst the Indian titles we have ‘Khalbali Records’ and ‘Honeymoon Photographer’. While the former is an intense drama about the business aspect of music labels featuring the battle between a father and a son, not much information is available on the latter. From he little glimpse of ‘Honeymoon Photographer’ unveiled in the September slate video, it looks like a bunch of people are on a vacation on an island or a beach where something bad happens and now the mystery is to be solved. The show’s cast includes Asha Negi.

The foreign series section on Jio Cinema in September will have ‘The Penguin’ and ‘Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist’ on the list. The Penguin’ is a limited crime drama series based on the DC Comics character Penguin and is a spin-off of the 2022 film ‘The Batman’. The highly anticipated series explores the Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City’s criminal underworld. As for ‘Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist’, it follows the infamous story of how on armed robbery on the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life but ultimately transformed Atlanta to a “Black Mecca”.

Among other titles launching on Jio Cinema we have Khatron Ke Khiladi Season Finale, new Seaosn of Big Boss Kannada, and a new animated series ‘Bhoot Bandhus In Bhoot World’.
