Jio Hotstar, the revamped Disney+ Hotstar, has launched its new original series ‘Kanneda’ and this one’s about the Indian immigrants and their struggles in Canada.
The newly launched teaser of ‘Kanneda’ shows how many Indians immigrate to Canada either to run away from their past or for a better future. But it isn’t always easy being away from home. The racism, the discrimination and many more struggles await them.
Amidst all this a Punjabi immigrant battled all these hardships through his songs, but it was his ambition that drew him closer to danger and got him involved into the dangerous world of gangs. Turns out it’s not all dreamy as one would think it to be but also smeared with blood of innocents.
‘Kanneda’ is JioHotstar’s latest offering and promises to be a thrilling ride. Although the teaser does not create any excitement and rather falls pretty flat. The ensemble cast is one great factor of the show but if the story isn’t enticing enough even they won’t be able to pull it off.
Also given the current international political relations with Canada, there is a huge possibility the series could run into muddy waters. Hopefully it’s taken in an artistic spirit and does not spiral into a controversy.
Set in the 90s, ‘Kanneda’ stars Parmish Verma, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Arunoday Singh, Ranvir Shorey, Aadar Malik and Jasmin Bajwa in prominent roles. All episodes of ‘Kannada’ will start streaming on Jio Hotstar from 21st March, 2025.
