If you’re an avid watcher of Indian web series’ then surely you’re familiar with Jitendra Kumar aka Jeetu. A familiar face in TVF’s shows such as Pitcher, Permanent Roommates, Kota Factory etc. He has won everyone’s hearts with his natural performances. Jeetu who is notable for portraying relatable characters in his works is now eyeing something different and big in 2021 and that too with Netflix.
PeepingMoon has reported that Netflix has signed Jitendra Kumar for their upcoming sports drama movie, titled ‘Jadoogar’. Jeetu will be seen playing the role of a football player. ‘Love Aaj Kal’ fame Arushi Sharma who also has a brief role in ‘Tamasha’ has been roped in to play the female lead beside him. Also Javed Jaffrey will be seen in the movie as well, he’ll be essaying the role of a sports coach.
It’s very heartening to see a talented actor like Jitendra Kumar to step out of his comfort zone and essaying a physically demanding role of a football player. With the OTT boom, it will be interesting to see how the actors approach their future projects so as to not get typecasted for a particular role. It seems that Jeetu who has been a regular feature in several of YouTube sketches is leading the charge. He was seen in Amazon Prime’s ‘Panchayat’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ in 2020.
In his journey of transformation, he’ll be having some familiar faces in the form of his earlier director Sameer Saxena who has helmed acclaimed shows like – Permanent Roommates, Yeh Meri Family and TVF Tripling. Saxena will be directing ‘Jadoogar’ for Netflix which will be written by Biswapati Sarkar, another regular feature of TVF.
The movie is being produced by the newly formed company – Posham Pa Pictures and ‘Jadoogar’ is going to be it’s debut venture. Posham Pa has been created by Sameer Saxena, Biswapati Sarkar, Amit Golani and Saurabh Khanna.
‘Jadoogar’ is currently in pre production stage as per PeepingMoon and will be going on floors in February!
