The official trailer for ‘JNU: Jehangir National University’ is out now. It stars Ravi Kishan, Piyush Mishra, Urvashi Rautela, Rashmi Desai and Siddharth Bodke in pivotal roles. The movie is written and directed by Vinay Sharma. JNU is coming out on the 21st of June this year.
The movie will be telling the story of the 2016 JNU sedition controversy but not with a documentary-like accuracy. The movie has been charged with the accusation of being biased. SFI, the left-wing student union, has called the movie out for ‘propaganda’. ‘JNU: Jehangir National University’ will be the story of some students like Sourabh Sharma, Richa etc who try to stop the growing influence of leftist politics in the university and protests against the so-called anti-national activities of the students. While the subject is a very sensitive one, and there is much more beyond the stories of the media, there are people who are excited for the movie.
The trailer is not that impressive, and while a comparison is automatically drawn to movies like ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘JNU’ does not seem to be as well-executed as those.
The cinematography of the movie is handled by Parth Navle and the music is composed by composers like Aehmad Najeem, Vijay Verma, Saaransh Maide. Piyush Mishra’s song ‘Main Nahi Manta’ from the movie has gone quite popular despite the controversies surrounding the movie.
