Peacemaker actor John Cena has revealed the release window of Season 2 in his recent interview with The Direct. The popular WWE superstar turned actor plays the jingoistic and lethal mercenary, Christopher Smith (aka Peacemaker), who believes in achieving peace at any cost.
Initially developed as a spin-off to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021), the John Cena starrer superhero series is also a huge streaming success. Season 1’s finale garnered 44% more viewership than its premiere episode. In addition, the finale also shattered the record for the highest single-day viewership of an HBO Max episode. Moreover, the series was also a critical hit, earning a ‘fresh’ 93% RT score based on over 90 certified reviews.
Thanks to James Gunn, Peacemaker Season 2 will now be a part of the newly formed DCU. As for its release window, this is what the show’s leading man revealed to The Direct:
“I’m hopeful in saying next year… And that’s about the only Peacemaker question I can answer.”
It seems like DC fans will get the sophomore season of Peacemaker in 2025. However, Cena did not reveal Season 2’s exact release date. But we should expect the second season to come out in late 2025 as the newly wrapped Gunn’s Superman movie is slated to hit the theatres globally on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
