Amidst all the depressing news of death and disease swirling around us in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, comes John Krasinski, star of The Office, and A Quiet Place, with a feel-good show to dispel the gloom and bring in some good cheer. The show, called Some Good News or SGN, debuted on YouTube today, and immediately attracted 950k views and 175k subscribers within hours of debut. ‘
John Krasinsky believes that the world is already in the midst of troubled times, and needs more positive news that will spread good cheer instead of gloom. So SGN brings heart-touching positive news from around the world, the kind that will warm the cockles of one’s hearts. Consisting of 15-minute episodes, the show will stream exclusively on YouTube.
Said Krasinski about the idea behind the show, “For years now I have been wondering, ‘Why is there not a news show dedicated entirely to good news?’ Desperately seeking my fix, I reached out to all of you this week begging for some good news, and boy, did you deliver. So, ladies and gentleman, this is your fault, and this is SGN.”
The stories and clips featured in the first episode are sure to bring a smile — and a few tears, for that matter — to anyone who takes the time to watch the show. It applauds the health care workers who have been going out of their way to help distressed people. It tells the heartwarming incident of a guy who delivered lobsters to quarantined people in Maine. Finally, it introduced us to Coco, a young cancer patient who is applauded by her neighbourhood for being a fighter and a survivor.
Krasinsky even had a video chat with his special guest on the first episode. And the guest was none other than Steve Carell, his co-star on The Office. It was also a way to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of the airing of the first episode of The Office. Steve Carell had played the boss Michael Scott and John had played Jim, both popular characters on The Office. The two shared their love for the show, and its memorable episodes.
John Krasinski’s Some Good News is streaming on YouTube. Watch it now, folks!
