Batwoman, one of CW’s most ambitious DC projects at the moment, is seeing a lot of changes. The first season of Batwoman, released back in 2019, was one of the exciting talking points for DC fans as Batwoman finally would have her own solo project. Batwoman first made her appearance in the Arrowverse episodes and with that, the show was all set to make its entry into the TV world. The first Batwoman as expected as Kate Kane and Ruby Rose was cast for the role, but after one season Ruby Rose made her exit. This meant the mantle of Batwoman would go to someone else, and interestingly Javicia Lewis came in as Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman for the series.
Now, DC has different women in different comics playing the roles of Batwoman, and along with it comes the various villains. One of not only Batwoman’s known rivals but also one of the famous nemeses of Batman too. Now, finally, CW’s Batwoman makers are all set to introduce Poison Ivy in Season 3. The role for the character is bagged by actress Bridget Regan, who earlier was part of hit shows like “Agent Carter”, “Jane The Virgin”, along with movies like “John Wick” and many others.
Now a little background on “Poison Ivy”. She has been regarded as a Botanist who always was surrounded by everything related to plants. It was once when one of her colleagues decided to inject plant toxins inside her and which in the end gave her superpowers and all kinds of dangerous abilities. Even though she uses those powers as a way of doing good, Batman and the team have time and again told her that those are nothing near good-ness, which in the end, made her a supervillain.
The last time a legendary actor played Poison Ivy was Uma Thurman in the movie “Batman & Robin” in 1997. After that actresses, Clare Foley, Maggie Geha, and Peyton List appeared as Poison Ivy in the series Gotham. Apart from that, Poison Ivy is also appearing in the HBO Max animated series “Harley Quinn”. Poison Ivy has profound importance in both the Batman Gaming universe as well as Batman Animated universe, but this will be the first time Poison Ivy appears in an Arrowverse series.
Poison Ivy has been one of the legendary supervillains of all time and one of the most iconic female villains in the DC universe. Even though Poison Ivy will be a recurring character at the moment, it will be interesting to see how her character shapes up in the Arrowverse universe. The Season 3 of Batwoman is all set to premiere on October 13, 2021.
