The actor Johnny Depp is ready to premiere his project “Modi: Three Days on the Wings of Madness” at the San Sebastian Film Festival next month. This will be his second directorial venture, following “The Brave” in 1997, which had a family-action drama with a neo-noir Western touch. In “Modi,” Depp explores the life of Amedeo Modigliani, an Italian painter, sculptor, and draftsman from the 18th century.
Actor Riccardo Scamarcio will portray Modigliani, with an ensemble cast including Stephen Graham, Al Pacino, Antonia Desplat, Luisa Ranieri, Bruno Gouery, Ryan McParland, Benjamin Lavernhe, and Sally Phillips. “Modi” aims to depict the impact of art and human loss during World War 1, with a screenplay by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski based on the work of Dennis Mclntyre. The film is produced by Depp’s IN.2 Films, Salome Productions, Barry Navidi Productions, and Proton Cinema, and has previously been showcased at the Cannes and Venice film festivals.
The movie will have a character-driven narrative as well as a genre of drama showcasing the role’s emotions, strengths and vulnerabilities.
The movie aims to shine a light on unsung heroes, reflecting on contemporary politics and societal evolution. Fans are eagerly anticipating Depp’s vision when the film hits theatres on December 5, 2024. Updates on the film’s availability on streaming platforms have not been announced yet.
