“Two years ago, the name Arthur Fleck hit Gotham like a hurricane.” Oh yes, he did! From accidentally exposing while performing at a children’s hospital as a clown to shooting Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro) straight in his face, Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck has indeed come a long way. And the latest Joker 2 teaser pretty much teases what sort of madness fans should expect from the upcoming sequel.
Joker: Folie À Deux had its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last week, where it bagged a nearly 11-minute-long standing ovation. However, opinions on the upcoming Todd Phillips film became more divided as viewers left the premiere. As of now, the sequel stands with a borderline ‘fresh’ score of 61% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 44 certified reviews. This score could go down after the movie’s theatrical release on October 4.
In what seems to be the final clip from Joker 2, Arthur is questioned about his crimes by Steve Coogan’s character. When the latter asks his subject about what’s changed in the two years, Arthur calmly replies that he’s “not along anymore.” The new teaser is brimmed with plenty of shots of Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn joining the notorious psychotic and narcissistic DC antagonist in different chaotic scenarios.
