Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is the third instalment in this series. A total of five movies are expected to be released as part of the series. The Fantastic Beasts series is a prequel to the widely famous Harry Potter series. This will be the eleventh film in the franchise. It is directed by David Yates who has earlier directed the last 4 movies of the Harry Potter series and the first two parts of the Fantastic Beasts series. Screenplay is written by J. K. Rowling and Steve Loves. Set several years after the events of The Crimes of Grindelwald, the movie follows Albus Dumbledore tasking Newt Scamander and his allies with a mission that takes them into the heart of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald’s army.
The movie has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It also had to deal with the controversy surrounding Johnny Depp, who played the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the first two movies. He is now replaced by Mads Mikkelsen. Apart from Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen, the cast includes Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol among others.
The series has received mixed reactions. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the second movie in the series, remains the lowest grossing Wizarding World installment to-date. Also, author J. K. Rowling remains a controversial figure and has faced backlash due to her comments related to the transgender community.
Nonetheless, a new trailer was long due with the release of the movie in less than two months. This will get the excitement going among the Wizarding World fans.
