Julia Garner To Play Silver Surfer In Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four

Julia Garner is joining Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four as the Silver Surfer. Major publications like Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed. The Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress will portray Shalla-Bal, the female version of the Silver Surfer in the upcoming MCU project.

Garner will share the screen alongside Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm, aka The Thing), and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch).

Matt Shakman, best known for his work on the WandaVision series, is helming The Fantastic Four, based on the screenplay by Ian Springer, Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, and Jeff Kaplan. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres globally on July 25, 2025. Its filming will commence this summer.

The Silver Surfer was previously voiced by Laurence Fishburne and portrayed by Doug Jones in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Julia Garner has starred in many popular films, like The Last Exorcism Part II (2013), Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014), Grandma (2015), The Assistant (2019), and more. She is also a part of Leigh Whannell’s upcoming adaptation of Curt Siodmak’s Wolf Man. She rose to global fame due to her work in Netflix’s Ozark series. She played Ruth Langmore in the show.
