The boxing ring is getting ready. No, we aren’t talking about a sequel to Creed or Rocky, but it’s the fierce battle of two of the biggest cinematic franchises ever. Mark your calendars for July 2025, if no delays happen. It may feature the biggest DC and MCU standoff ever.
Now, it’s not Barbenheimer. Both of the films won’t be releasing on the same day, but the proximity of the films is making it an interesting period.
Last night, Marvel had an intention to change the equations, shifting the dates of Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts. The interchange of dates managed to create a massive competition.
Now, Thunderbolts, no hate to it. Thunderbolts do look promising, but they were no match for Superman Legacy. But as Marvel shifts Fantastic Four to July, Fantastic Four has all the chances to give Superman Legacy a hard time ahead.
For those who are unaware, Superman Legacy is coming to theaters on July 11, 2024, and Fantastic Four will be gracing the big screens from July 25, 2024, just a couple of weeks from DC’s mammoth film.
Now, though the release dates are nearing, the situations of both the universes are miles apart. Marvel, though lost the touch for a while, is now at its prime condition, and DC, it will have its big start and breakthrough with Superman Legacy, so they will be desperate to get a box-office success.
Marvel will also be making an attempt to flawlessly introduce the Fantastic Four into the mainstream timeline, so the stakes are high for both DC and MCU.
But, the two-week period will definitely work for the betterment of both films, especially when it comes to Summer Blockbusters. The period is big enough not to harm both films. And from the Barbenheimer phenomenon, it was prominent that close release dates work like magic.
