Jumanji 4 star Karen Gillan has revealed why the fourth film is taking so long to get made. Sony announced the fourth Jumanji film right after the release of The Next Level (2019). Over four and a half years have passed since The Next Level’s release. Yet, we do not know when Jumanji 4 will come out.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Karen Gillan discussed the long delay in the production of Jumanji 4. The actress blamed the busy schedules of all leading cast members for this scenario. She came there to promote her upcoming crime mystery thriller movie, Sleeping Dogs, starring Russell Crowe.
This is what she said in her interview:
“If you find out [who’s to blame for it taking so long], can you let me know? Because I don’t know. I’m sure it’s tricky to wrangle everyone’s schedules, but I haven’t heard anything about it other than the fact that we will be doing it at some point. So we’re all so enthusiastic about it. We all love working on those films, and it’s just a matter of when.”
Sony cannot afford to delay Jumanji 4 anymore. Another significant production delay could pose the risk of the sequel’s leading cast members aging out of their roles in front of the production studio. Both Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson have already teased that Jumanji 4 would be their last Jumanji project. The former plays Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, an expert zoologist, in the franchise. On the other hand, Johnson portrays Dr. Xander “Smolder” Bravestone, a strong and talented archaeologist and adventurous explorer.
It is hard to tell when Jumanji 4 will arrive in theatres, given that its production is yet to commence. It will star Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan. Stay tuned for more updates.
