We have a new trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend. Directed by Godzilla fame Gareth Edwards, the upcoming installment marks a new era for the Jurassic World series.
Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a highly skilled covert operations expert tasked with leading a team that attempts to secure genetic material from the world’s three largest dinosaurs. We also see her visiting the old Jurassic Park from the original 1993 film with her team.
Bailey plays Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist; Ali portrays Duncan Kincaid, a survival specialist and Zora’s team leader; and Friend appears as Martin Krebs, a pharmaceutical representative.
Apart from these big names, other talents joining Rebirth include Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, Ed Skrein, and David Iacono.
Edwards’ take on Jurassic World certainly looks different, sharing some similarities with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park movies, which were more adventure-based. Instead of showcasing large-scale catastrophic destruction like the Jurassic World trilogy, Rebirth focuses on preserving the DNA samples of three mega-sized dinosaurs.
Many experts believed that Dominion (2022) would mark the end of the franchise, given how poorly it was received in terms of storyline—despite grossing over $1 billion globally.
But we also know that the Jurassic World franchise has been a money-printing machine for Universal, so the arrival of Rebirth doesn’t come as a shock. However, it faces the daunting task of not only outperforming the previous trilogy—which starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard—but also paving an exciting new path for future sequels.
Jurassic World Rebirth is slated to arrive in theatres globally on July 2, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates. Here’s the new trailer!
