Promising story, a crazy presentation and Anurag Kashyap as a maniac villain. Do you need more ingredients for a blockbuster OTT recipe?
Perhaps, nobody does. This was the case with Disney+Hotstar’s latest series Bad Cop. The series is filled with highly dramatic stories which are always loved by Indians.
The series was scheduled to be released today i.e. the 21st of June. However, the platform gave us a pleasant surprise by releasing the series a day early in the evenings.
Nobody really complains about an early release. But some people have a problem with the way Hotstar decided to release the series. As you may already know, Disney+Hotstar has this habit of releasing Indian content in an episodic manner. They don’t do it with every series but a lot of times, they do.
So is the case with Bad Cop. They have released only two episodes of the series which is quite annoying for the people. For them, it kills the joy of streaming as they prefer to binge-watch. But for platforms, a longer episodic release keeps the audience visiting their platform on a regular basis.
So this is a collision of interest but in short-term decisions, Hotstar is more powerful thus they would do what they want to do
