Shaji Kailas’s multi-starrer ‘Kaapa‘ was released today and has set the box office on fire. The movie is getting great responses from the audience and is trending on social media.
Most appreciation is coming for Kailas’s making style and direction and the performances of the cast. The movie boasts of an ensemble cast led by Prithviraj Sukumaran(Kaduva), Asif Ali(Kooman), Aparna Balamurali(Soorarai Pottru), and Anna Ben(Kumbalangi Nights). Besides Prithviraj and Aparna, Jagadeesh and Dileesh Poottan in supporting roles have been singled out for praise for their performances.

‘Kaapa’ explores the dark underbelly of Thiruvananthapuram where rival goondas clash in cold-blooded gang wars to gain dominion over the city’s suburbs and slums. It gets its name from KAAPA- The Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act which came into force in 2007. According to this act, people who cause a threat to the safety and peaceful existence of society can be imprisoned for up to a year. One of the most important steps was to prepare a list of such individuals. The film is the story of a few people who were included in the list and the dynamics between them.
Prithviraj had earlier mentioned in an interview that, unlike most gangster films, Kaapa will be more of a classy film than a mass film. So expect a mass film and you may end up getting disappointed. The movie is based on a story written by G.R. Indugopan and will see Prithviraj star as Kotta Madhu. The movie goes through the eyes of Asif Ali’s Anand.
Produced by Dolwin Kuriakose, Jinu V. Abraham, Vikram Mehra, and Siddharth Anand Kumar, the movie marks Kailas and Prithviraj’s second outing this year after the blockbuster ‘Kaduva’. And from the looks of it, Prithviraj is all set to have a great end for 2022.
