Kajol’s heart-warming film ‘Salaam Venky’ released in theatres on 9th December, 2022, amid rave reviews from critics and audiences who caught the film in the theatres. Kajol’s performance came in for special praise, as did young actor Vishal Jethwa’s performance. He plays Kajol’s son in the film. ‘Salaam Venky’ has now locked its streaming date and platform. The film will premiere on ZEE5 on 10th February, 2023, two months after its release in theatres.
‘Salaam Venky’ features two powerhouse talents of Indian cinema coming together – Bollywood star Kajol and stellar actor-director Revathi. Revathi has directed ‘Salaam Venky’, based on the story ‘The Last Hurrah’, written by Shrikant Murthy. The film has been produced by Suraj Singh and Shraddha Agrawal under their banner Blive Productions and Take 23 Studios Productions.
The story of ‘Salaam Venky’ is an inspiring and uplifting struggle of a mother, who faces insurmountable obstacles in her struggle to help her son, afflicted with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, live life to the fullest. The mother-son go up against the state, the courts and society, to let him donate his organs. The story is reportedly inspired by true events. Screenwriter Sameer Arora has written the screenplay for ‘Salaam Venky’, with dialogues by Kausar Munir.
Besides Kajol and Vishal Jethwa, ‘Salaam Venky’ stars Priyamani, Aahana Kumra, Anant Mahadevan, Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, Prakash Raj, Revathi herself, and Aamir Khan in a surprise cameo.
