The much-talked-about Ramayana-centric film “Sita The Incarnation” has finally found its Sita. Fiery actress Kangana Ranaut has come on board the film to play the titular role of Sita. ‘Sita The Incarnation’ will be a retelling of the Ramayana, told from the point of view of Sita, spouse of Lord Rama.
Sita The Incarnation was in the news recently owing to the much-publicised news of Kareena Kapoor Khan asking for a ₹12 crore fee for playing Sita in the film. The makers of the film were keen to get Kareena Kapoor on board their ambitious venture, but were deterred by the hefty fee she asked for it.
The screenplay of Sita The Incarnation will be written by none other than K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, celebrated screenplay writer of several successful films. For those not in the know, K.V. Vijayendra Prasad’s famous works include Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali: The Conclusion, Magadheera, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Thalaivii, among others. He’s given scores of blockbusters in the Telugu and Hindi film industries.
Sita The Incarnation will be a pan-Indian affair to be made in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Alaukik Desai, advertising honcho and filmmaker, will direct the film, while Human Being Studio Productions are the producers. Manoj Muntashir will pen the film’s dialogues and lyrics. Manoj Muntashir has written the dialogues for the Hindi version of the Baahubali franchise. He has also written the lyrics of hit Hindi film songs, including “Galliyan” from Ek Villain, “Tere Sang Yaara” from Rustom, “Kaun Tujhe” from M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story, “Teri Mitti” from Kesari, among others.
All of a sudden, the ancient Indian epic Ramayana has become hot property for the country’s filmmakers. Besides ‘Sita The Incarnation’, other films being adapted from the Ramayana are T-Series and Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’, and Madhu Mantena’s Ramayana project. Kriti Sanon is playing Sita in Adipurush, while Deepika Padukone is rumoured to be playing Sita in the latter one.
