Kangana Ranaut Starrer ‘Tejas’ Skips 2022 Release! Deets Inside

Kangana Ranaut has had a very uneven year in 2022. While her much-awaited OTT debut ‘Lock Upp’ was a blockbuster and as per reports became the most successful Indian reality show on OTT, her last theatrical release ‘Dhaakad‘ turned out to be a theatrical disaster. All eyes were on her next big screen release ‘Tejas’ to end the year on a good note, but the movie has skipped a 2022 release and will release in theatres in the summer of 2023.

‘Tejas’ is the debut directorial of Sarvesh Mewara and is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies. Kangana is set to play an Air Force pilot in the film, for the first time in her career. The IMDb description reads “Landmark event in 2016 when the Indian Air Force became the country’s first defense force to induct women into combat roles, the courageous journey of an Indian Air Force pilot.” The movie also co-stars Varun Mitra and Anshul Chauhan.

The movie is set to be high on patriotic fervor. Kangana’s collaboration with the ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ producers is a very buzzy project, even more so after Kangana in a recent interview revealed the movie, much like Uri, would also have a surgical strike scenario playing out.

The movie was set to release on October 5th but was then postponed, reportedly due to the VFX of the project taking longer than anticipated. Now, it seems fans will have to wait until next year to watch the star on the big screen. It was on a Facebook post from her official handle that the actress revealed the same.

Kangana’s solo directorial is also set to release in 2023. Titled ‘Emergency’, the movie is set during the period of declaration of emergency in India in 1975 and the actress is set to portray the late PM Indira Gandhi. Kangana will also be seen in the period film ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Dugga’ and Alaukik Desai’s magnum opus ‘The Incarnation: Sita’. Nawazuddin Siddique and Avneet Kaur starrer ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’ she produced is also set to release on Prime Video.
