Kangana Ranaut To Play Titular Role in Chandramukhi 2!

There is no stopping Kangana Ranaut. Anyone and everyone must have understood that by now. The 4-time National Award-winning actress has announced that her next will be the Tamil language big-budget film ‘Chandramukhi 2’ where she will play the titular role.

The film will be directed by P. Vasu and will be a sequel to his blockbuster film ‘Chandramukhi’ which starred Rajinikanth and Jyothika. Ranaut will be playing the role opposite Tamil star Raghava Lawrence(Kanchana films). Her character has been described as a world-renowned dancer at a king’s court who’s known for her dancing skills and breathtaking beauty.

According to National Award-winning costume designer Neeta Lulla, Candramukhi is the “epitome of grace in every adaa — her looks, her hair, her stance, and walk exude and portray the spirit of dance”. Kangana is expected to shoot the first schedule of the film in the first week of December. Her inclusion would help the film gain a pan-Indian image.

While there have been rumors suggesting Ranaut will play the role for some time on social media, the actress confirming the same via Instagram story sealed the deal. Reportedly, Lyca Productions, one of the top production houses in India whose latest release was ‘Ponniyin Selvan Part 1’ will bankroll the film. The movie will be Kangana’s third Tamil film after ‘Dhaam Dhoom’ and ‘Thalaivii’.

Kangana’s latest Tamil release was the trilingual film ‘Thalaivii’ where she played the lead role of former CM Jayalalithaa. Though some reservations were raised when the film was announced, the Tamil audience was overwhelmingly in favor of the actress’s performance as the leader lovingly and respectfully called ‘Amma’. The film was directed by AL Vijay. Ranaut’s superhit film Manikarnika’s dubbed Tamil version was also a commercial success.

The ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actress is currently shooting for her second directorial Emergency in which she will star as former PM Indira Gandhi. Kangana will be seen next in RSVP’s ‘Tejas’ where she will play the role of an Air force pilot. She also has ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Dugga’ and a biopic on Noti Binodini in her kitty.
