First look of Kangana Ranaut’s latest film ‘Emergency’ is here and it’s pretty impactful. ‘Emergency’ marks Kangana Ranaut’s second directorial feature after ‘Manikarnika’ and is slated for a 2023 release.
Set in 1971 in Washington D.C. the first look teaser video of ‘Emergency’ starts with the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s personal assistant getting a call from the then American President Nixon’s office. The call’s purpose is to confirm if the President could address the Indian PM as “madam” during their meeting.
In the other room Indira Gandhi is seen reading the documents from the American President praising her for her support to Bangladesh during their fight for independence from Pakistan. When asked about the addressing thing, she responds to inform the President Nixon that in her office everyone refers to her as “sir”.
Towards the end there is a public announcement conveying that PM has imposed emergency in the country and there is reason to be worried about it. The whole aura of the first look of ‘Emergency’ is impactful and Kangana very well carries the role of Indira Gandhi.
Scheduled to release in 2023, ‘Emergency’ has begun filming and is written and directed by Kangana Ranaut herself. Based on true events that unfolded in 1975, the film chronicles incidents that took place under the leadership of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, one of the most powerful women in Indian history.
